INDIANA, PA – On Friday, Oct. 17, IUP Athletics will host former lead solo pilot with the Blue Angels and inspirational speaker, John Foley.
Foley has been sharing his experiences with audiences around the world for nearly a decade. As a lead solo with the Blue Angels, he was part of the first United States team ever to fly in Moscow with Russian demonstration teams, and to fly in other Eastern Block countries. Furthermore, he was the first American to fly a Russian - the chief test pilot of the Mikoyan Design Bureau - in an F-18.
In addition to his involvement with the Blue Angles, Foley also did actual flying for the movie
Top Gun from the carrier deck of the U.S.S. Enterprise. He is a six-time winner of the Top Ten Carrier Pilot Award.
Foley has taken to entrepreneurship, as well. He is the founder and CEO of CenterPoint Companies, and the founder of the Glad to Be Here Foundation, a giving forward program.
He is a Sloan Fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and an advisor to successful corporations from Wall Street to New Delhi, India.
In college, he was a two-year letterman with the Naval Academy football team, where he played in the Liberty Bowl vs. Ohio State, and in the Garden State Bowl vs. Houston.
This event is free and open to the IUP and Indiana community, and will be held in the Toretti Auditorium at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex at 7:00 p.m.
