BLOOMSBURG, PA – In their next to last game of the season, the IUP field hockey team dropped a 2-0 road match at Bloomsburg on Wednesday afternoon.
The Huskies scored one goal in each half, outshooting the Crimson Hawks 11-3 during the game.
Bloomsburg's first goal came early, getting it in the sixth minute after four penalty corners in four minutes of play. The Huskies totaled nine penalty corners in the first half alone, but IUP goalkeeper
Darian Shuker (Reading, Pa./Exeter ) stepped up with five saves in the game's first 35 minutes.
The second half was played more evenly, but both of the Crimson Hawks' shots were turned away. Bloomsburg's second goal came at the very end of the game, ensuring its win with a score with three seconds to go.
Shuker ended up with seven saves on the day in all 70 minutes of play.
The Crimson Hawks, now 6-10 overall and 5-9 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, will play their final game of the season on Saturday when they travel to Millersville to face the second-ranked Marauders.
