Lindsay Stamp (Erie, Pa. /Mercyhurst Prep) scored 17 points with 11 rebounds and four assists in just 26 minutes as IUP wrapped up its preseason with a 69-61 loss to the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center.

Stamp recorded her double-double despite fouling out with 5:27 to go in the game. The Crimson Hawks led Pitt 56-54 at the time of the foul. She finished 6-of-9 from the field, including 4-of-6 from the three-point line. She also added a block.

The Crimson Hawks shot a scorching 52.5 percent from the floor, including 11-of-19 from three-point range, but turned the ball over 31 times on the afternoon. Pitt also held an edge at the line, going 16-of-25 while IUP finished just 8-of-10.

IUP held an early 7-2 lead before the Panthers rattled off 14 of the next 17 points to go on top 16-10 with 11:36 to play in the first half. Even with nearly three minutes off scoreless ball, Pitt held on to the lead, holding off an IUP surge to take a 31-24 advantage into the locker room.

The Panthers built a nine-point lead early in the second half, but IUP rallied to tie the score at 41-41 with a three-pointer by
Amy Fairman (Creekside, Pa. /Marion Center) with 13:24 to go in the game. The Crimson Hawks took the lead just minute later when
Leslie Stapleton (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) drilled a three, putting IUP on top 44-43.

The Crimson Hawks led 50-44 after a layup by
Ashley Stoner (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Thomas Jefferson), capping a 12-3 run with 9:17 to go in the game. Pitt came back to tie the game at 53-53 and later took a 57-54 lead Â

IUP tied the game again at 61-61 on a pair of free throws by
Zhane Brooks (Erie, Pa. /Villa Maria) just under two minutes to play, but the Panthers made 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch to pull away from the Crimson Hawks for the eight-point victory.

Brooks also scored in double-figures for the Crimson Hawks, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting in 28 minutes. Stapleton, Fairman and
Marina Wareham (New Wilmington, Pa. /Kennedy Catholic) each had nine points, combining to shoot 7-of-11 from three-point range.

IUP will begin its regular season this weekend when it travels to West Chester University to play in the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament. The Crimson Hawks will face The Sciences and Concordia on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
