LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Crimson Hawks managed just six combined hits as they fell to Lock Haven in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) softball crossover doubleheader on Monday afternoon in Lock Haven.

The Bald Eagles took game one 3-0 and outlasted IUP 6-5 in 10 innings in a game two marathon.

Alexa Campbell (Manheim/Manheim Central ), who was just named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week earlier this afternoon, took the loss in the opener. Campbell went the distance, giving up three runs, all unearned, on four hits with three strikeouts.

The Crimson Hawks had just a pair of hits in the first game as Lock Haven scored each of its runs in the third innings. IUP's best chance to score came in the seventh inning, putting two runners on with one out but Lock Haven's Rachel Mouilesseaux pitched her way out to preserve the shutout win.

The day took a different turn in game two, with the Crimson Hawks getting a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Lock Haven came back, however, tying it in the second and taking on four more runs through the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

The Crimson Hawks then picked up three hits and took advantage of two Lock Haven errors to score four runs and tie the game at 5-5 through 5 ½ innings. The big hit for IUP in the sixth was a double by Mary Ward (Hatfield/North Penn) that brought home Jenn Krider (Conneaut Lake/Linesville) and Jasa Mitchell (Snow Shoe/Bald Eagle Area). Angela Devereaux (Oakdale/West Allegheny) also had a run-scoring hit, driving Ward around from second a batter later.

Lock Haven threatened to win the game in the bottom of the ninth, but reliever Tara Senn (Eagle/Downington East) pitched out of a bases loaded, two-out jam to take the game to the 10th. It was there, however, that she couldn't escape the Bald Eagles, as an infield single with the bases loaded and two outs got the extra inning victory.

Senn got her first loss of the season, giving up one earned on eight hits in seven innings pitched. The Crimson Hawks had four hits in the nightcap and combined with Lock Haven for seven errors in the game.

The Crimson Hawks, now 23-13 overall, get back to PSAC West play with three doubleheaders the rest of the week. They'll host Clarion on Wednesday and Slippery Rock on Friday before traveling to Mercyhurst for the regular season finale on Saturday.
