Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
CLARION, PA – Austin Mock (State College/State College) drove in five runs and tied the IUP career saves mark, helping the Crimson Hawks to a baseball doubleheader sweep over Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Sunday.

The Crimson Hawks defeated Clarion by scores of 9-3 and 4-2 and end the season with an overall record of 18-23, including a 12-16 mark in the PSAC West. Clarion finishes things up with records of 8-30 and 5-23.

Three of Mock's five RBI came in the opener, as he got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly in the second before Clarion took the lead in the bottom half with three runs.

The Crimson Hawks then exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 8-3 lead. Mock got the scoring going with a double to right center, scoring Chris Calliari (Brockway/Brockway) and Dylan Tice (Perkasie/Pennridge). Two batters later John Beatty (New Castle/Mohawk) brought home the third IUP run of the inning on a single to left.

Rick Jones (New Castle/Laurel) had the highlight of the inning with a bases clearing RBI triple four batters later, followed by a run-scoring single by Calliari to close out the scoring.

Jones got one final run for the Crimson Hawks, driving in Aaron Lupia (Middletown/Middletown) with a double in the sixth.

Kyle Zaorski (Reading/Muhlenberg) got the win, improving to 4-4 on the season after striking out three and giving up eight runs and three earned in five innings. Hunter Bigler (Washington/Trinity) tossed two innings in relief, striking out one and giving up two hits.

Clarion struck first in game two, getting one run in the third. It wasn't until the fifth inning when IUP finally got on the board, again with Mock providing the spark. With two outs and Jones on second, Mock homered over the fence in left field to give IUP a 2-1 lead.

The Crimson Hawks added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, starting with a leadoff homer by Tyler Mroz (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley). Later in the inning, Bigler scored when Calliari reached on a fielder's choice to make it 4-1.

Clarion managed one run in the seventh, but Mock would close out the victory with his fifth save of the season and 12th of his three-year IUP career, tying the all-time mark held by Bill Roush (1983-86). Jared Weed (Washington Crossing/Council Rock North) got the win, improving to 3-5 on the season after striking out five and giving up two earned runs in 6.2 innings of work.

The Crimson Hawks swept the season series with Clarion, scoring 52 runs in four games compared to just 12 by the Golden Eagles.
