first collegiate game.

INDIANA, PA – Chase Haslett (Clayton, Mo./Clayton) threw for three touchdown and Luigi Lista-Brinza (McKees Rocks, Pa. /Central Catholic) ran for 111 yards and two scores as the 20th-ranked IUP Crimson Hawks rolled to a 41-19 win over visiting Saint Augustine's at IUP's  George P. Miller Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The son of former IUP great and current Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim, Haslett finished the day 14-of-20 for 176 yards and those three scores as he made his first start after transferring from Illinois.

Lisa-Brinza, a true freshman, carried 21 times, averaging 5.3 yards per rush on the day. He totaled 101 yards by halftime as the Crimson Hawks built a 27-7 lead over the Falcons, who hail from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Other first year IUP players to make a difference were Wisconsin transfer tight end Brock DeCicco (Jefferson Hills, Pa. /Thomas Jefferson), who caught two passes for 44 yards and made a tackle on punt coverage; true freshman Walt Pegues (Philadelphia, Pa. /Central), who caught three passes for 25 yards and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown; and fellow rookie Tahki Turner, who totaled eight tackles and returned an interception 30 yards from his free safety spot.

IUP, which is ranked 20th by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and 23rd by D2Football.com, tallied the game's first four scores to race out to a 27-0 lead early in the second quarter. Lista-Brinza had both of his touchdown runs – one yard and seven yards – while Haslett connected with Drew Carswell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Sto-Rox) and Nick Dubowski (Erie, Pa. /Cathedral Prep) for touchdown passes of seven and 13 yards, respectively.

The Falcons got on the board with just under seven minutes to play in the first half, capping off a 14 play, 81-yard drive with a 14-yard pass from AJ Gilford to Tyson McDonald.

The Crimson Hawks scored the first points of the second half when Izzy Green (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) ran across the goal line from 11 yards out, putting IUP on top 34-7 after a converted extra point by Brett Ullman (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) at the 5:46 mark. Green finished with 40 yards on seven carries and that touchdown.

Saint Augustine's made it a 41-13 ballgame late in the third when a botched handoff landed in the hands of the Falcons' fullback, Reece Bradley, the in the end zone. The Crimson Hawks added one last score towards the beginning of the fourth quarter when DeCicco had the ball knocked loose after an acrobatic catch, fumbling into the end zone where Pegues landed on the ball for the score.

The Falcons tacked on a final touchdown, getting a seven yard pass from Guliford to Jordan Turkvant for a meaningless score as time expired.

Saint Augustine's outgained IUP 379-357, although most of it came in the passing game, with the Falcons tossing for 260 yards on 31 attempts. The Crimson Hawks ran for 181 on 38 carries, getting 32 yards on seven carries from Darian Bradley (Midland, Pa./Beaver), in addition to Lista-Brinza and Green's totals. Bradley also had two catches for 16 yards.

Carswell finished with three catches for 37 yards and a score, while Sean McVay (Miami, Fla./Miramar) had two for 31 and Pegues three for 25. Dubowski caught two passes for 23 yards and a score.

Kevin Clarke (West Mifflin, Pa. /West Mifflin) had a game-high 13 tackles in his first career start, stepping in for the injured Dorian Lane (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Woodland Hills). He also forced two fumbles and recovered another. Alexander Berdahl (Ashburn, Va./Bishop O'Connell) had eight tackles and forced a fumble and Jerell McFadden (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) had five solo tackles.

Jordan Batts (Homestead, Pa. /Jeannette) and Karon Gibson (Sicklerville, N.J./Woodbury) each had a sack while Matthew Mowad (Easton, Pa. /Easton) and Jemal Averette (Upper Marlboro, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) combined for one more.

Tristan Davis (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) also showed well in the return game, returning a kickoff 47 yards, nearly breaking it for a long score.

IUP hits the road for its next two games, traveling to Kutztown next week and Lock Haven the following Saturday.
