Field Hockey Defeated by Bloomsburg on Wednesday

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP field hockey team lost to visiting Bloomsburg by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.

The game was critical in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) postseason race as it dropped IUP to eighth place in the league with a 3-5 record while Bloomsburg's 4-4 conference record is now tied for sixth. The top six teams in the PSAC earn tournament berths.

Bloomsburg scored both goals in the first half, with both coming off of the stick of MacKenna Mahan in the 12th and 35th minutes. The second goal came just 14 seconds before the halftime horn.

The Crimson Hawks shut Bloomsburg down in the second half, not allowing a single shot to the Huskies and only two penalty corners. IUP managed just two shots in the second half, both early on from Madelyn Mullen (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) in the 39th minute and McKenzie Noll (Lewisburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) in the 47th minute.

Both teams had four shots on goal for the game, while the Crimson Hawks totaled 12 corners to Bloomsburg's four.

IUP has four games remaining, but just two conference games – No. 1 Millersville on Saturday and Mercyhurst next Wednesday. Both will be at home.
