INDIANA, Pa. – Freshman goalkeeper
Olivia Accardi (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) stopped four shots, but visiting top-ranked Millersville used a balanced team effort to defeat IUP, 4-0, Saturday night at a wet Miller Stadium.
The game, which was originally scheduled for an 11 a.m. start, was first delayed until 6:30 p.m. due to a field conflict and lack of referees. Minutes into the first half, another delay was called after stadium lights went dark.
Millersville scored 9:18 into the match, en route to a 3-0 halftime lead, as the game was played during a steady rainstorm. A late second-half goal with 2:01 remaining in the game resulted in the 4-0 scoreline.
Maddie Mullen had IUP's lone shot on offense.
With the loss, IUP drops to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in PSAC play. Millersville, tied as the No. 1 team in the nation, moves to 16-1 and 7-1 in the conference.
IUP continues its season-ending homestand with a home match Monday against Mansfield. Play is set to being at 4 p.m. at George P. Miller Stadium.
