Uhl Garners Two More All-American Honors

INDIANA, Pa. – IUP senior first baseman Ryan Uhl (St. Marys, Pa./St. Marys) added a pair of NCAA Division II All-American nods recently, selected to the first team of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) while earning second team honors by Daktronics.

This brings the total to three All-American honors for Uhl this postseason, as he was also a first team selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) last week. He's the first player from IUP since Paul Bingham in 2010 to earn first team All-American honors.

Uhl is one of six players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) chosen as All-Americans by the ABCA, joining Seton Hill's Nick Sell (third base) and Slippery Rock's Adam Urbania (outfield) on the first team. Three more players were chosen to the second or third team. A total of eight PSAC players, including Uhl, were picked as first, second, third team or honorable mention by Daktronics.

Uhl was a consensus first team All-Atlantic Region selection, earning nods by the NCBWA, ABCA, and Daktronics (sports information directors). As of May 18, the senior leads Division II in four categories – 29 home runs, 0.66 home runs per game, 1.68 runs batted in per game, and a 1.085 slugging percentage.

His home runs and slugging percentage totals, in addition to his 74 runs batted in and 154 total bases were all single season IUP records. He also batted .415 with 59 hits, 53 runs scored and 33 walks in 44 games.

Uhl ends his career as IUP's all-time home run leader with 42. He also tops the school charts with a .646 career slugging percentage, and is third with 147 RBI and 339 total bases, sixth with 126 runs scored and seventh with 177 hits.
