Michael Klingensmith (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) struck out eight batters and senior outfielder
Hunter Bigler (Washington, Pa./Trinity) drove in four runs as IUP defeated Penn State Dubois 17-5 under the lights at Showers Field on Wednesday night.
Klingensmith tossed five innings in the start, striking out those eight batters while giving up two earned runs on six hits, improving to 2-1 on the year.
Bigler went 4-for-5 at the plate while also drawing two walks, driving in those four runs while also scoring three times on his own.
Chris Calliari (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) finished 2-for-4 on the night with a double, two RBI and one run scored while
Cory Wheeler (Butler, Pa./Butler) was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored.
The loss ended the Crimson Hawks' eight-game losing streak as they improved to 7-14 overall. They look forward to a four-game conference set with Clarion this weekend, with the series starting on Friday at Clarion.
