SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – No. 1-ranked Shippensburg was too much for the Crimson Hawks from the start, as IUP field hockey lost 9-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Robb Sports Complex.
IUP fell to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Shippensburg improved to 11-2 and 6-0.
Shippensburg outshot the Crimson Hawks 29-10 on the day, including 14-3 in the opening half.
Freshman
Kimberly Kelly (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) scored for IUP in the 56th minute, banking one in off the left post on an assist by
Madelyn Mullen (Chester Springs, Pa./Owen J. Roberts). It was Kelly's second goal of the season.
Freshman defender
Madison Youst (Reinholds, Pa./Conrad Weiser) added her team-leading fourth defensive save of the season in the first half.

The Crimson Hawks are off until next Saturday when they head to Bloomsburg to face the Huskies (8-6, 4-2 PSAC). Gametime is scheduled for 11 a.m.
