Late goal sends IUP Field Hockey home with 2-1 loss at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Junior midfielder Kalista Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scored her third goal in the last four games, but the lone score wasn't enough for IUP field hockey as the Crimson Hawks fell to Slippery Rock 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Gioglio's goal tied the game at 1-1 in the 56th minute, but Slippery Rock's Alyssa Castle scored the eventual game-winner with less than four minutes to play. IUP falls to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with the loss.

Junior midfielder Matti Reightler (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) assisted on Gioglio's goal, her fifth dish of the year. It was Gioglio's third goal this season.

Senior goalie Alyssa Lerda (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) had five saves in goal for the Crimson Hawks.

The game was statistically identical, with both finishing with 12 penalty corners, nine shots, and seven shots on goal.
