INDIANA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks couldn't overcome a dominant performance by visiting East Stroudsburg, as the top-ranked Warriors won a 4-0 conference field hockey matchup on Saturday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.
IUP dropped its second straight game to fall to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
The Crimson Hawks were able to keep East Stroudsburg's shot attempts to relatively low 10 on the afternoon, but the Warriors (9-2, 2-1 PSAC) connected on four of those, two in each half.
Senior goalie
Alyssa Lerda (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) had two saves on the day. Junior defender
Emma Smiley (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) had a defensive save in the second half, her second of the season.
It was the first home loss of the year for the Crimson Hawks, who are now 3-1 at Miller Stadium, outscoring opponents 9-6 in those four games.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks look to rebound on Tuesday night in Greensburg at Seton Hill (3-7, 0-2 PSAC).
