BETHLEHEM, Pa. – IUP seniors
Austin Cooper (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and
Greg Beaudette (Johnston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) finished first and second, respectively, as the Crimson Hawks cross country teams competed in the 44th annual Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus.
Cooper and Beaudette were the top finishers in the College Men's Brown race early in the afternoon, beating runners from Division I schools such as Siena, Richmond, George Washington and Virginia Commonwealth.
The duo helped the IUP men finish eighth overall among non-Division I teams. Cooper finished with a time of 24:35, which unofficially breaks the IUP men's cross country record for the fastest ever 8K time. Beaudette was right on his heels at 24:37. It was the third time in as many races this fall that the pair finished back-to-back.

Sophomore
Noah Mandel (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) crossed the line in 52nd with a time of 25:45, while classmate
Ryan Louther (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) was the fourth IUP finisher with a time of 26:27, good for 105th overall.
A total of 369 runners competed in the Brown race – 152 Division I, 217 non-Division I.
On the women's side, the Crimson Hawks finished fifth overall, paced by seniors
Makena Felts (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) and
Nicole Best (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot). The pair crossed the line in 28th and 29th place, respectively, running the 6K course with times of 23:30 and 23:32.
Junior
Sam Christman (Limerick, PA./Spring-Ford) followed in 35th place with a time of 23:40, while freshman
Tricia Varner (Sidman, PA/Forest Mills) was IUP's fourth finisher with a time of 23:54, good for 50th out of 271 runners.
Up next
Both the men's and women's teams will compete in Carnegie Mellon's Hampton Inn Pittsburgh Invitational next Saturday, October 7.
