LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The highlight of the day for the IUP cross country teams came from Mike Formica, who shattered his personal best by 41 seconds and broke the school 8K record. He won the men's Crimson race with a time of 24 minutes, 12.70 seconds.
Overall, IUP finished 13th out of 22 teams. Three Crimson Hawks placed in the top 100 of more than 200 runners, including Tom Brady and Dominic Kuntz.
In the women's Crimson 6K, IUP placed 15th of 21 teams. Zaya McCune led the way with a time of 23:28.20. Abby Douglas and Stella Kuntz also placed in the top 100.
The Crimson Hawks competed in the women's White 6K as well, finishing ninth. Hailey Hirtz was the team's top finisher, placing in the top 35.
IUP returns to action Oct. 11 at Carnegie Mellon for the Tartans' annual race.
