LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Indiana (Pa.) University senior Mike Formica broke the program's 35-year-old 10K record and qualified for the national meet, running the race in 30 minutes, 25.70 seconds. Formica finished the regional race in fourth place as the second PSAC runner to cross the line, four seconds behind Shippensburg's Garrett Quinan.
Overall, three PSAC runners placed in the top five, with two Fayetteville State runners finishing in the top two spots.
For the women's team, junior Zaya McCune was the top finisher for the Hawks, setting a personal record while running the 6K in 23:23.80 and placing in the top 80. Senior Stella Kuntz also set a personal record, running the race in 23:35.10.
Formica, who hasn't finished outside the top five in any race this season, will compete at nationals on Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
