INDIANA, Pa. – Senior Matti Reightler was one of six players contributing to the scoring as the Crimson Hawks defeated Seton Hill 4-1 Tuesday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.
It was IUP's second league win, improving to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Seton Hill falls to 0-8 and 0-2.
Reightler scored just 3:08 into the game, her second goal of the season, on an assist from Brianna Lubarsky. Lubarsky assisted on each of IUP's first two goals, finding junior midfielder Lizzi Clemmer just 1:16 later to give the Crimson Hawks a quick 2-0 lead.
The Crimson Hawks totaled 16 shots in the opening half with 12 of those coming on goal.
IUP's defense dominated as well, allowing just one Seton Hill shot in the first half.
In the first three minutes of second half play, Seton Hill slipped in a goal past IUP defense making the score 2-1. That score did not remain for long as junior forward Kimberly Kelly scored off a corner assisted by Reightler to give IUP a two-goal lead. 11 minutes after Kelly's goal, junior midfielder Madison Marcharsky netted in her first goal of the season with the assist from teammate Georgiana Chiavacci making the score 4-1.
IUP outshot Seton Hill 22-4 and had a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners. The Crimson Hawks had a season-high 17 shots on goal.
