YORK, Pa. –
Nicole Smith (Dover, PA/Dover),
Regan Chalk (Hanover, PA/New Oxford), and
Colter Long (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) each put up fourth place finishes as the IUP men's and women's swim teams competed on the third day of the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Friday at the Graham Aquatic Center.
Smith's finish came in the women's 500 freestyle with a time of 4:59.04. She posted a personal best 4:58.09 in the Friday morning prelims, which was her third NCAA B cut time of the championships.

Smith was one of four IUP women to score in the 500 free, as she was joined by
Beatriz Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain/Pane Manyanet) in 13th at 5:11.86,
Bria Otwell (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) in 14th at 5:13.35, and
Anna Moffitt (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) in 22nd with a time of 5:17.27.
500 freestyle huge for the IUP women Friday
The IUP women scored 295 points on Friday to remain comfortable in third place overall out of 12 teams. The Crimson Hawks have scored 719 points through three days, trailing first place West Chester (1368) and second place Bloomsburg (852).
The 500 free wasn't the biggest scoring event for the IUP women, who had eight scorers in the 200 butterfly. Gabby Gironda led the way with a fifth place finish at 2:08.28, with
Aniella Janosky (Dover/Dover Area) following in seventh at 2:09.58,
Sara Bertram (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) in ninth at 2:07.88, and
Jessica Cochran (Herminie, Pa./Yough) posting a fourth top 10 finish by touching the wall in 2:09.91.
Also scoring in the 200 fly were
Taylor Davis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J Roberts) in 11th (2:10.22), Otwell in 16th (2:12.52), Sophie Manges in 19th (2:14.13), and
Jordan Shoemaker (Richmond, Va./Cosby High School) in 24th (2:19.18).
Chalk's fourth place finish came in the 100 backstroke (57.19), with
Jessica Cochran (Herminie, Pa./Yough) also scoring in 22nd (1:00.72). Sarah Helton and
Paige McCullough (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) scored in the 100 breaststroke in ninth (1:06.38) and 10th (1:06.69), respectively.
The women's 800 freestyle relay team finished third, the best overall finish of the night for the Crimson Hawks, with a time of 7:44.64.
13 score for the IUP men on Friday
The men scored 133 points Friday to remain third overall at the championships with 353.5 points. West Chester continues to lead with 595 points and Bloomsburg is second with 473.5 points.
Long led the way in the 100 breaststroke with a fourth place time of 56.57. He was one of four to score in the event and was joined by
Shane Hallett (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) in seventh at 57.03,
Hussain Alzaid (Kuwait/Kuwait) in 12th at 58.80, and
Robert Jones (Biglerville, PA/Biglerville) in 14th at 59.35.
IUP also had four scorers in the 200 butterfly, led by
Mace Long (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) and his fifth place finish at 1:54.94.
Nathan Dill () followed in sixth at 1:55.59,
Brian Uhrin (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) was ninth at 1:55.79, and
RJ Hammond (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) was 13th at 1:57.13.
Also scoring for the men Friday were
Noah Brockway (York, PA/Dallastown),
Sterling Tate (York, PA/Dallastown), and
Russell Oliver (Barbados/Kelly College) in the 100 backstroke with times of 51.84 (seventh), 52.65 (ninth) and 54.71 (16th), respectively.
Gerard Morato (Barcelona, Spain) and
Lucas Bellier (Orléans, France) scored in the 500 free with 11th (4:45.17) and 13th place (4:46.97) finishes.

The final day of the PSAC Championships continues at 10 a.m. Saturday with prelims. Finals start at 5 p.m.
