EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Four student-athletes from Indiana University of Pennsylvania will compete this week at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.
Sophomore Gem Crittenden and junior Kasha Stokes will represent the Crimson Hawks on the women's side, each qualifying for two events.
Crittenden, the Most Outstanding Performer at the PSAC Swimming and Diving Championships, will compete in the 200 butterfly and the 400 individual medley. Stokes will race in the 100 and 200 backstroke events.
On the men's side, divers Jeremiah Laslavic and Nicholas Roddy will represent IUP. Both athletes are familiar with the national stage, as each placed in the top 20 in the men's 3-meter six-dive championship at last year's meet.
Crittenden and Stokes also competed at the national championships last season. Stokes set the IUP all-time record in the 200 backstroke at the meet with a time of 1:58.70, breaking the previous mark by nearly six seconds. Crittenden made her debut at nationals in the 400 IM while also competing in the 200 butterfly.
The diving events will begin Tuesday, with swimming events scheduled to follow later in the week.
