EDINBORO, Pa. – Senior
Liz Coppella (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) finished fifth overall in the pole vault to highlight the IUP women's first day of the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday.
DAY ONE RESULTS
Coppella cleared 3.63 meters in the tightly contested event, her best career performance at the PSAC Indoor Championships.
In addition to Coppella, three women's sprinters moved onto Sunday's finals in their respective events.
Heather Sternby (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) ran the fastest time in the prelims of the 400 meters at 57.60. She'll be joined by
Jada Wilson (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion), who finished sixth in the prelims with a PR of 58.97.
Raven Russell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) will compete for the 60 meter title on Sunday as she finished seventh in the prelims with a time of 7.82.
Coppella's four points were the only scored on the first day as IUP sits 14th out of 14 teams.
