SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – A total of 17 Crimson Hawks hit conference qualifying marks as the IUP men's and women's track & field teams competed in Shippensburg's 14th annual Paul Kaiser Classic Saturday afternoon.
It was the final meet of the regular season for the Crimson Hawks as the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships are next weekend in Slippery Rock.
In addition to the qualifying marks, IUP had 14 top 10 finishes Saturday, including a first place finish from the women's 4x400 relay team.
Heather Sternby (Meadville, Pa./Meadville),
Emily Dubler (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg),
Jessica Jones (South Park, Pa./South Park) and
Jada Wilson (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) finished with a time of 3:58.83.

Sternby finished second in the 200 meters with a PSAC time of 25.44.
Emily Dubler (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) had a PSAC time in the 100 meters with a 12.66 in the preliminaries and Wilson ran a 14.86 in the prelims of the 100 hurdles. She finished fourth in the finals of the event with a time of 14.99.
Ykendi Hood (/) hit dual qualifying marks, running a 12.28 in the prelims of the 100 meters and a 25.59 in the 200 meters. She finished fifth in the 100 finals with a time of 12.38 and fourth in the 200.
Other qualifying women were
Sam Christman (Limerick, PA./Spring-Ford) in the 3000 meter steeplechase and
Liz Coppella (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) in the pole vault. Christman finished third with a time of 12:18.03 and Coppella finished fourth by clearing 3.60 meters.
On the men's side, their 4x100 relay team of
Daniel Jackson (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban),
Julius Rivera (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), Eliezier Silvestre and
Cameron Gray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) finished third with a time of 42.92. The 4x400 relay team finished fourth, with
Derek Noll (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), Silvestre,
Justin Jones (Lansdown, Pa./Cardinal O'hara) and
Dylan Ruefle (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) running a 3:27.31.
Three relay runners hit PSAC qualifying marks in individual events, including Jackson in the long jump, Rivera in the 100 meters, and Ruefle in the 800 meters. Jackson leapt 6.65 meters in the long jump, Rivera ran a 10.68 in the prelims of the 100, and Ruefle finishing seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:56.61.
Finishing right behind Ruefle was
Ryan Louther (Indiana, Pa./Indiana), whose 800 time of 1:56.84 was also a PSAC qualifying time.
Other men's qualifiers and top 10 finishes include
Charles Wilson-Adams (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) with a height of 1.95 meters in the high jump and
Donovan Burriss (Frederick, MD/Oakdale) with a toss of 14.02 meters in the shot put, both good for fifth place.
John Capitosti (/) hit qualifying marks in the high jump (1.86 meters) and long jump (6.57 meters),
Christian Jones (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) cleared 1.91 meters in the high jump, and
Ethan Riley (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney Area) went for 6.63 meters in the long jump.
