LOUISVILLE, Ky. – IUP freshman third baseman
Renee Wall (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) has been named second team All-Atlantic Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), as the organization announced its 2018 regional honors Thursday.
The regional honor for Wall comes on the heels of her Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division Freshman of the Year award earlier this week. She's the first NFCA regional award winner since
Hannah Mercer (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) in 2015.
Wall asserted herself as one of the top players in the PSAC Central in her first collegiate season. As the Crimson Hawks' cleanup hitter, she led the team with a .370 batting average, 13 doubles, 22 walks, and .492 on-base percentage.
Wall also finished second on the team with 37 base hits, two home runs, 27 runs batted in, and a .560 slugging percentage. She had nine multi-hit and seven multi-RBI games, and a reached base streak of 14 games. Wall was one of the toughest in the conference to strikeout, fanning just eight times in 100 at-bats.
