MEADVILLE, Pa. – The IUP men's and women's track & field teams competed in Allegheny College's Gator Invitational Friday, their last chance meet before the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships later this month.
Two Crimson Hawks hit Division II provisional qualifying times, including
Charles Wilson-Adams (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) in the men's high jump and
Jada Wilson (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) in the women's 400 hurdles. Neither were able to better their NCAA qualifying times from earlier this season.
Wilson-Adams won the men's high jump with a height of 2.05 meters, his fifth performance this spring of at least two meters.
Wilson ran a time of 1:01.64 to win the 400 hurdles. The PSAC Champion in the event last week, it was the second fastest time in her career.
Others with standout performances Saturday included a group of women's distance runners, with four finishing inside the top 10 of the 5000 meters.
Allyson Dryer (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) finished third at 18:26.21 and
Sam Christman (Limerick, PA./Spring-Ford) was seventh with a time of 18:36.33, while
Makena Felts (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) was ninth (18:49.67) and
Nicole Best (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) was 10th (19:28.08).
Tricia Varner (Sidman, PA/Forest Hills) finished fourth in the 3000 steeplechase at 12.15.66.
Heather Sternby (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) finished second overall in the 400 meters with a time of 57.70.
