INDIANA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks lost a 2-0 battle with fifth-ranked Millersville Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
The game was largely a defensive battle, as both teams combined for 13 total shots and nine shots on goal. IUP limited the high-scoring Marauders (3-1) to just three shots in the first half.
One of those first half shots for Millersville did connect, with Erica Tarsi hitting the upper right corner of the cage off a corner pass after just eight minutes had passed in the game.
The second Millersville goal came after 14 minutes had been played in the second half, with a shot by Tarsi ricocheting off the pads of IUP goalie
Olivia Accardi before finding the stick of Sol Ortiz-Kreiner, who tallied the score.
Accardi finished with five saves in the cage, including two diving stops that kept the game closer.
A total of four green cards were handed out in a game, all in the second half, with each team responsible for two apiece.
