IUP baseball (0-0, 0-0 PSAC West) opens its 2019 season with a three-game series at UNC Pembroke (3-0, 0-0 PBC) this weekend. This marks just the second meeting between these two teams, with the Braves taking the series 3-0 last season in the Crimson Hawks' 2018 season-opener.

Chris Eisel returns to the IUP lineup as one of the top positional players. He earned an All-PSAC first-team selection after leading the Crimson Hawks in batting average (.383; 49-for-128), runs scored (36), stolen bases (nine) and tied for the team lead in doubles (11).
>> Eisel ended last season with a team-best 13-game hitting streak, batting .417 (20-for-48) with 15 RBI, seven doubles and three home runs. He recorded five multi-hit efforts, including two three-hit games over that span.

Colin Claus posted a 3-5 record in 10 starts last season, leading the Crimson Hawks in ERA (4.99; 48.2 IP/27 ER), starts (10), innings, and strikeouts (56).
>> IUP batters ended the 2018 season with a combined .317 (281-for-887) batting average and a .477 on-base percentage, both ranking fourth overall in the PSAC.
>> The Braves opened their season with a three-game sweep over Shepherd from Feb. 1-2. They have now won 12 straight games at home since April 3, 2018.
