IUP Baseball (6-7, 0-0 PSAC West) opens conference play with a two day, four-game series against the California (Pa.) Vulcans (12-3, 0-0 PSAC West) this weekend. The Crimson Hawks will play at Wild Things Park, Saturday, and will return to Owen J. Dougherty Field, Sunday, for their 2019 home opener.


NOTES
>> The Crimson Hawks wrapped up their 2019 Spring Break Trip with their first doubleheader sweep of the season, over Glenville State, March 13.
>> Redshirt sophomore Nick Kuhn picked up his first relief win of the season in the first game of the doubleheader against Glenville.
>> IUP had contributions from eight different pitchers over the doubleheader with Glenville, combining for a 2.81 ERA (16 IP/5 ER) with 23 strikeouts and holding the Pioneers to a .277 batting average (18-for-65).
>> Senior RHP Jeff Allen (3-0) earned his third win of the season, March 10, against Winston-Salem State. He has earned the win in each of his three starts this season, becoming the first IUP pitcher to earn the win in his first three consecutive starts since Greg Stewart in 2011.
>> Sophomore Nick Hess batted .448 (13-for-29) with seven RBI and four runs scored over the eight games of the Spring Break Trip. He went 5-for-9 with five RBI in two games against Glenville State.
>> The California Vulcans are coming off a doubleheader sweep over Wheeling Jesuit, Tuesday. Freshman pitcher Tyler Bedillion earned the win after tossing a complete game and posts a 0.00 ERA (15.0 IP) this season.
