WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The 10th-ranked IUP field hockey team fell from the ranks of the unbeaten as the Crimson Hawks lost to No. 2 West Chester 5-0 Saturday afternoon.
IUP held the Golden Rams scoreless in the first quarter but West Chester put two on the board in the second to grab the momentum.
WCU (5-0) outshot the Crimson Hawks 7-2 in the opening half and had four penalty corners compared to IUP's two.
The Golden Rams added a goal right out of halftime and scored again at the end of the third quarter before adding a fourth quarter score. For the game they outshot IUP 18-2, including 10-1 on goal.
The loss dropped the Crimson Hawks to 4-1 overall as they remain in their mandated, but not-league counted conference games.

The Crimson Hawks have a quick turnaround with their third game of the week as they host Newberry (1-2) Sunday afternoon at Miller Stadium. Game time is 12 p.m.
