INDIANA, Pa. – The offense of the third-ranked Warriors was too strong for IUP field hockey Saturday as the Crimson Hawks lost to East Stroudsburg 4-0 in the conference opener at George P. Miller Stadium.
East Stroudsburg (8-1, 1-0) used a pair of Emily Spangler second quarter goals less than two minutes between each other to grab the early momentum. It was part of a six-shot second quarter for the Warriors after neither team could get a shot off in the first 15 minutes.
The Warriors picked up two more goals in the third quarter, including one on a penalty stroke to cap the scoring at just before the horn sounded.
ESU outshot the Crimson Hawks 14-1 and totaled 12 penalty corners on the afternoon.
It was the fourth straight loss for the Crimson Hawks after opening the year with four straight wins. They fall to 4-4 on the season.
