Box Score CARY, N.C. - The IUP baseball team put together its biggest offensive output of the young season and ran its win streak to three with a 17-8 win over St. Thomas Aquinas Tuesday afternoon at the National Training Center.
Over their three-game win streak in the last three games, the Crimson Hawks have totaled 38 runs. They wrapped up their North Carolina trip with a 3-2 record, the only losses coming to West Chester on the first day.
Austin Mueller and
Markus Cestra each hit home runs Tuesday. Mueller went 2-for-4 with that homer, three RBI and two runs scored.
Nick Hess and
Colin Williams each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, with Hess knocking in two runs while Williams had a double.
Jake Decker picked up the win on the mound, striking out five in three innings.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks return to Pennsylvania and open PSAC West play with their first divisional series next weekend against Seton Hill. IUP will play in Greensburg Friday and host the Griffins Saturday.
