WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The IUP field hockey team lost to No. 2-ranked West Chester 6-2 on the road Saturday morning.
The Crimson Hawks fell to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC with the loss. West Chester is now 8-1 and 3-0 in the conference.
West Chester led 2-0 in the second quarter when IUP got on the board with a
Shelby Harnish goal in the 22nd minute.
The Rams extended their lead to 3-1 with a goal in the third quarter, one of three scores in the final 30 minutes of play. IUP did cut its deficit to two with a score by
Paeton Hartmann with just over seven minutes to play, but WCU put it out of reach with late goals.
West Chester outshot IUP 25-6 and owned the advantage in penalty corners 18-6.
Georgiana Chiavacci, the PSAC-leader in assists, tallied her sixth of the year on Harnish's goal.
Rory Cahill and
Mia Watson assisted on Hartmann's score.

The Crimson Hawks have two at home next week – Tuesday night against Seton Hill and Saturday afternoon against Bloomsburg.
