NOTEBOOK

CRIMSON HAWKS LOOK TO CLOSE SEASON STRONG
IUP enters the final week of the regular season outside of the NCAA Super Region One rankings. It's the latest in the year the Crimson Hawks have been outside of the regional top-10 since 2014 when they finished 6-5. IUP is 29-6 in November games since 2008, including 24-3 in games during the regular season. Coach Tortorella has an 8-2 record in November.

IUP HOPES TO SEND SENIORS OUT ON WINNING NOTE AT WEST CHESTER
The Crimson Hawks travel to West Chester for the first time since the 2017 PSAC Championship, a game they won by a score of 24-7 to finish with an 11-0 regular season. It was the first of back-to-back wins over the Golden Rams, also winning 44-10 at home in the second round of the NCAA playoffs. Traditionally the Crimson Hawks have fared well in regular season finales, boasting a 10-2 record in these games since 2008. Those two losses were both at home and came in 2018 to Shippensburg (45-21) and in 2014 to West Chester (28-17).

COACH TORTORELLA THROUGH 46 GAMES
The Mercyhurst game on September 25 marked Coach Tortorella's 40th game as head coach of the Crimson Hawks. Now with 46 games under his belt, Tortorella owns a record of 37-9 (.804), including a 23-5 (.821) mark against PSAC West schools. He reached 30 wins faster than any other IUP coach (35 games), and has two NCAA playoff berths (2017, 2019), division, PSAC, and regional titles (2017), and a 7-4 record against top-25 opponents.

CRIMSON HAWKS OFFENSE COMING OFF ANOTHER BIG PERFORMANCE
IUP is coming off its fifth straight outing of 420+ yards, gaining 457 on just 49 plays in last week's 38-3 win at Seton Hill. The Crimson Hawks averaged a season-best 9.3 yards per play, with six plays going for 20 yards or more, including pass plays of 85 and 70 yards from Gr. QB Harry Woodbery to Sr. WR Irvin Charles. IUP also rushed for 237 yards, averaging 6.4 yards per carry, both season-highs.

WOODBERY PUTTING TOGETHER SUCCESSFUL GRAD TRANSFER YEAR
Grad transfer QB Harry Woodbery has been a standout on offense in his first and only season at IUP, averaging nearly 240 passing yards with 24 total touchdowns (22 pass) in just seven games. Woodbery has two 5-touchdown performances, including a program-record 5 TD passes at Slippery Rock.

WOODBERY RANKED AMONG TOP QBs in PSAC, DIVISION II
Woodbery is the 9th rated passer in Division II - and 2nd in the PSAC - with an efficiency rating of 165.6. That number is currently the 6th best single season mark in IUP history. The grad transfer QB is also 21st in the country with 22 TD passes despite playing in just seven games, and is 9th in DII with 20.9 points responsible for per game.

EVANS SIXTH ALL-TIME AT IUP IN CAREER RUSHING YARDS
After a slow start to the season, Sr. RB Justice Evans has rushed for 494 yards (82.3/game) and is averaging 5.6 yards per carry over his last six games. He rushed for a season-high 143 yards against Edinboro and ran for his first touchdown of the season last week. He enters his final college game needing 46 yards to become the sixth player in IUP history with 3,000 career rushing yards.

BROWN AND CHARLES AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS
Jr. WR Duane Brown and Sr. WR Irvin Charles rank among the best in the PSAC and Division II in several categories. Brown leads the conference with 6.3 receptions per game (14th in DII) and 92.4 receiving yards per game (18th). He has 50 catches for 739 yards this year with four 100-yard games. Charles has 11 receiving TDs this year, which is 3rd in the PSAC and ranks 13th in Division II. He has 694 receiving yards and his 86.8 yards per game is 3rd in the PSAC.

CRIMSON HAWKS HAVE ONE OF BEST RUN DEFENSES IN DIVISION II
IUP is 2nd in the PSAC and 8th in Division II giving up just 76.8 rushing yards per game. Just two opponents (Kutztown, Gannon) have rushed for 100 yards in a game and a team hasnt averaged more than 3.0 yards per carry in the last five games.

CRIMSON HAWKS ARE 23-1 SINCE 2011 WHEN THE DEFENSE SCORES
IUP has one defensive touchdown this year - a 21-yard INT return for a score by Jr. DT Raunya Mitchell in the opening win over Kutztown. The single defensive TD this season mirrors the team's output in both 2018 and 2014. In every other year since 2011 the Crimson Hawks have had multiple defensive scores, including 4 in 2017, 5 in 2016, and 6 in 2015.
