UPDATE: Friday afternoon's IUP baseball doubleheader at Clarion has been postponed due to rain in the forecast. These games will now be played Sunday at 1 p.m. The series will now start with Saturday's doubleheader in Indiana.
INDIANA, Pa. – After its non-conference midweek game against Wheeling on Tuesday, the IUP baseball returns to divisional play this weekend with its four-game series against Clarion. The Golden Eagles host the opening doubleheader Friday afternoon with the series heading to Indiana Saturday. First pitch each day is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Crimson Hawks enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-27, including 1-19 in the division. Clarion is 7-16 overall and 5-9 in the division, but a Wednesday doubleheader against Seton Hill will affect those records heading into the weekend.
Spectator Policies
IUP Athletics is allowing spectators at outdoor events this spring. Any fans visiting Owen J. Dougherty Field are asked to keep socially distant from each other, participating teams, student-athletes, school officials and other game day personnel. When not able to socially distant, please wear masks.
Clarion is allowing a limited number of spectators at indoor & outdoor events in spring 2021. Entrance will be limited to family and friends designated by event participants ahead of a scheduled competition, with the total number contingent upon available capacity for a given date.

>> The Crimson Hawks had their biggest offensive showing of the season but ultimately fell 18-17 to Wheeling Tuesday afternoon at Dougherty Field.
>> IUP's 17 runs scored were the most since the pandemic-shortened 2020 season finale, and the 15 base hits were the most since April 2019.
>> 10 different Crimson Hawks collected at least one hit while eight players drove in at least one run. Both teams combined to throw 11 pitchers on the afternoon.

Alex Super had his best showing on the mound Tuesday after making his season debut just two weeks ago. Super struck out seven batters in 5.0 innings, scattering three hits and allowing just one run. For the season he has a 2.16 ERA and nine strikeouts in 8.1 innings of work.

Mark Edeburn had possibly the best start of the year by an IUP pitcher, striking out seven and giving up just one earned run in a complete game, 1-0 loss to Gannon last week. It was Edeburn's first start of his college career. In seven total appearances this year, he has a 4.15 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.
