Eric McCabe named director of athletic facilities

INDIANA, Pa. – IUP director of athletics Todd Garzarelli announced the hiring of Eric McCabe as the department's new director of athletic facilities.

"It is with great excitement that I introduce Eric McCabe as our new director of facilities and welcome him to the Crimson Hawk Family!" said Garzarelli. "He comes here with a vast array of expertise, and I am truly impressed by his commitment to serving and look forward to him helping our department progress forward."

McCabe comes to Indiana from Bloomsburg University where he spent five years, including the last four-and-a-half as the assistant to the athletic director. In that position McCabe served as the primary contact for athletic facilities, which involved overseeing enhancements, new projects, and installation.

"I would like to thank athletic director Mr. Todd Garzarelli, and the search committee for the opportunity to further my professional development and career with the Crimson Hawks," said McCabe. "I look forward to getting started at IUP and bringing the knowledge I gained over the last five years years at Bloomsburg."

McCabe also oversaw game day event management for the Huskies' athletic programs, department ticketing operations, coordinated alumni or other special events such as postseason games or guest speakers, and served on several departmental committees that dealt with long-range goal planning and operations.

Prior to his time at Bloomsburg, McCabe served as the community relations coordinator and admissions representative at McCann School of Business and Technology in Lewisburg. McCabe was the director of women's basketball operations at East Carolina University from 2012-13, worked as an assistant manager at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, and served as the athletic ticketing manager and as a marketing and promotions assistant at Bucknell University of six years.

McCabe got his start in collegiate athletics as a student assistant for the Saint Francis (Pa.) women's basketball program. He graduated from Saint Francis in 2006 and earned his master's degree in recreation and sports administration with a concentration in athletic administration and coaching from Western Kentucky in 2011.
