SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Kendall Branan and
Evan Weaver each won individual titles while IUP track & field 10 qualifying marks at Shippensburg's 17th annual Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday.
Branan won the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.60 while Weaver finished first in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:05.44. It was Weaver's first collegiate 5K while both were PSAC championship qualifying times.Â
Branan and Weaver had two of the five IUP men's qualifying marks on Saturday. Others included
Noah Shannon-Hatchett,
Marco Cardone and
Jayden Thomas. The former two each posted career-bests, as Shannon-Hatchett had a time of 22.30 in the 200 meters while Cardone ran 4:00.34 in 1500 meters. Thomas cleared 1.85 meters in the high jump.
Five IUP women also hit conference qualifying marks. Three of those also had second place finishes in their event, including
Cahsia Page in the 200 meters (25.36),
Cassidy Kline in the 400 hurdles (1:02.89), and
Hailey Dodson in the shot put (13.67m). They were also all career-best marks. Also hitting a personal-best was
Paige Wess in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.92.
Tori James was the fifth qualifier, posting a time of 4:55.99 in the 1500 meters.Â

IUP will compete in Lock Haven's LHU Qualifier next weekend. It's the last scheduled meet before the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championships May 12-14.Â
