YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A small contingent of IUP indoor track & field athletes returned to action on Friday as part of the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational in Ohio.
Marking the first of two days at the YSU Mid-Major, IUP is back on the track for the second time this season.
Renee Simmonds posted a season-best in the pentathlon shot put with her heave of 11.01m, the top overall finish of the day for the Hawks. Simmonds added a lifetime best in the 60m pentathlon hurdles with her time of 10.13, while teammate
Cassidy Kline notched sixth in the same event with a lifetime best 9.59.
Kline posted third in the pentathlon 800m with a 2:33.97 and was 12th in the pentathlon long jump (4.84m). For the men,
Dan Gibney started the running events strong for the Hawks with his ninth-place time of 15:12.26.
The men's distance medley group of
Nate Eberly,
Hunter Stuck,
Micah Williamson and
Dominick Ditoro was 13th overall in 11.08.44.
Cahsia Page zipped to fifth overall in the 60m hurdles with her time of 7.82.
IUP finishes action at Youngstown State on Saturday, January 28. Action resumes at 9:30 a.m.
