LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Putting together an impressive stretch over the last few weeks for the IUP men's basketball program, senior forward
Ethan Porterfield was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Men's Basketball Co-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Porterfield joined KJ McClurg (Cal U) as the league's co-athlete of the week over a four-game stretch. The Sharon, Pa. native averaged 19.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Crimson Hawks since November 25, helping the squad to a 3-1 mark during that frame.
Porterfield shot 49.2% from the floor and 32.1% from beyond the arc for IUP, which has won three consecutive contests. He averaged 34.7 minutes in the last four games, posting five steals and three blocks on the defensive end.
Porterfield had at least 20 points in three of the last four games for the Hawks, pouring in 21 points each in victories against Frostburg State on November 26 and Shippensburg on December 1. He notched a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in a victory at Lock Haven on December 2.
He ranks eighth in the conference in scoring average (18.3), fourth in total rebounds (56), sixth in rebounds/game (8.0), sixth in three-point field goals (16) and fourth in blocked shots (7).
The reigning two-time PSAC Tournament MVP, Porterfield continues to climb up the IUP record books in several categories. His is 14th in program history in career points (1,465), 11th in career field goals (551), 10th in career three-point field goals (177), seventh in career rebounding (684) and third in career blocks (144).
IUP hosts Point Park on Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. from the KCAC.
