CLARION, Pa. – The IUP diving teams competed at the Clarion Diving Invitational on Friday evening, continuing to develop in advance of the conference championships.
Nicholas Roddy finished second overall in the 1M dives with his score of 383.20. He was particularly strong in the forward 1 1/2 somersault tuck dive, accumulating a 7.5, 7 and 7 from the judges for a total of 21.5. He also added a seven in the inward 1 1/12 somersault and the back dive.
Roddy notched fifth overall in the 3M dives, finishing with a 409.80 cumulative score. He notched six dives with a score of at least a seven, including in the forward 2 1/2, forward 1 1/2 somersault 2 twists. His best scores in the 3M dives came in the forward 1 1/2 somersault and the back dive.
Jordyn Burkey was fourth out of 18 competitors in the 1M dive (306.10), notching 10th in the 3M dives (161.55).
Natalie McGrath was 15th in the 1M dives for the Hawks.
Burkey picked up a seven in her eighth 1M dive of the competition, the back dive. She amassed 18.5 points in the forward 1 1/2 somersault in another productive outing.
IUP celebrates its senior class with the Senior Recognition Meet on Saturday, February 3 from the Pidgeon Natatorium. Ceremonies begin around 1:15 p.m. with competition beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m.
