PITTSBURGH, Pa. – IUP outdoor track & field finished up action at the 2023 Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday in Pittsburgh, with many student-athletes getting their first taste of competition during the outdoor season.
 
Overall, IUP showed well, placing fourth in the men's team standings and 11th in the women's rankings. The event contained a mixture of competition from Division I, II and III.
 
The IUP women's 4x100 relay grouping of Morgan Slebodnick, Brynna Kelly, Emma Laughlin and Cassidy Kline took first overall in 50.27. On the men's side, Owen Putt posted a PSAC qualifying standard in the 800m, finishing seventh overall in 1:56.19.
 
Justin Egizio recorded a pair of top-five showings in the spring events, notching fifth overall in the 100m (11.19) and 200m (22.87) for the Crimson Hawks. Jayden Thomas and Adam Wood tied for second in the men's high jump.
 
Kline added a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles for the IUP women, notching a seventh-place time of 27.01 in the 200m.
