YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Braving some snowy travel conditions, the IUP indoor track & field team returned to action for the first time in 2024 at the Youngstown State Collegiate Invitational on Friday.
IUP posted five total Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) indoor qualifying standards and one event victory during Friday's meet.
SahBri Hill won the triple jump for a second consecutive meet, notching a PSAC standard in the process with his first-place mark of 13.86m on Friday. It marked one of 11 individual finishes among the top 10.
Sarah Isenberg highlighted the field performances for the Crimson Hawk women, posting sixth in the high jump (1.57m) while also competing in the shot put and long jump.
Justin Egizio raced to ninth in the 400m (50.30; PSAC standard) and
Mike Formica notched fifth in the mile race (4:20.09; PSAC standard) in his season debut. Formica previously attended Youngstown State before transferring to IUP prior to the cross country season, beginning the track season against his former school.
Formica's race was one of multiple impressive efforts for the IUP distance group as
Dan Gibney added a PSAC standard in the 5,000m (7th; 15:19.36). On the women's side, IUP finished ninth, 10th and 11th overall in the 5,000m.
Stella Kuntz posted ninth (20:38.28), followed by
Hannah Weaver (20:44.84) and
Julia O'Brien (20:57.58).
Sam Moffat paced the men in the 3,000m behind a ninth-place time of 9:09.20.

IUP will get into a more routine schedule of competition for the rest of the indoor season, competing in the two-day Bison Open at Bucknell on January 26-27.
