INDIANA, Pa. – Quick offense secured IUP's shutout victory over D'Youville this Sunday afternoon at Miller Stadium.
IUP's offense-controlled today's game after scoring six goals and another one off a penalty shot. They tallied a total of 25 shots, with 17 on target, while D'Youville managed just five shots, two of which were on goal.
Junior
Jess Davidson scored twice and recorded three assists helping the Hawks to their victory this afternoon. She led the Hawks with nine shots, seven of which were on goal, and opened the scoring just 7:50 into the game, after paving her way to the goal.
In the second quarter, fifth-year
Cassie Romanczuk capitalized on a shot attempt from Davidson that slipped past the goalie at 16:56. Romanczuk contributed five shots, with two on target, along with one goal and one assist.
The third quarter was particularly active for the Hawks, who scored five goals, including one from a penalty shot.
The first three goals came in quick succession, with the first just 17 seconds into the quarter. Senior
Devon Johnson scored two of these goals, the first at 30:17, assisted by Romanczuk, and her second at 34:24, assisted by Davidson. In between Johnson's goals, Davidson found the net once again at 32:24.
To cap off the quarter, Junior
Aubree Dorsey scored after receiving a pass from Davidson off a penalty corner, followed by Sophomore
Lilly Fringer successfully converting a penalty shot.
IUP finished off the fourth quarter at a steady pace.
