IUP maintained its lead to clinch the victory

FROSTBURG, Md. – Despite the gloomy weather, IUP (4-7) powered through to secure a 3-1 victory over Frostburg State (4-8), marking their second win of the week and a total of 10 goals scored.

IUP's offense dominated the second and third quarters, recording nine shots while limiting Frostburg State to just four. Overall, IUP took 12 shots with five on target, compared to Frostburg's eight shots, six of which were on goal, but only one came in the second half.

Fifth-year player Cassie Romanczuk netted her eighth and ninth career goals at IUP, becoming the second player this season to score twice in a single game. Her first goal came at 11:48 after Aubree Dorsey took a corner and delivered a perfect pass, leveling the score at 1-1.

Freshman Nora Kirkwood scored the second goal for IUP at 24:34, marking her first collegiate goal.

Romanczuk secured the game with her second goal at 54:32 in the fourth quarter, assisted by junior Jess Davidson, who tipped the ball past the goalkeeper.

Senior goalie Anita Planella played the full 60 minutes and made five saves. IUP also had an advantage in penalty corners, earning 15 to Frostburg State's five.

Both Romanczuk and Davidson took five shots, while Horning and Kirkwood had one each. Romanczuk led the team with three shots on goal, with Davidson and Kirkwood contributing one each.
