IUP women’s soccer breaks 15-year standstill making their return to the NCAA Tournament; named fifth seed in Atlantic Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in 15 years, IUP women's soccer program was selected to the NCAA DII Tournament, earning the fifth seed in the Atlantic Region during Monday night's selection show.

IUP was selected as the fifth seed and will face No. 4 West Virginia State in the opening round of the tournament, set for Friday, November 22.

Shepherd and Gannon will host the first and semifinal rounds. Shepherd was awarded the No. 1 seed after they were just named the 2024 PSAC Champion, followed by No.2 Gannon who just won the PSAC West regular season. Four teams from the PSAC were named to the seven-team regional tournament field with three teams making up the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

IUP earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years, last being in 2009, marking the fourth appearance for the IUP women's soccer program.

The Crimson Hawks enter the tournament with an 11-2-4 overall record and 9-1-4 in the PSAC under the direction of third-year head coach Noreen Herlihy. The Hawks earned the second seed in the PSAC West division behind conference championship participant Gannon.
