One of the busiest weeks of the athletic calendar, the IUP department of athletics has nine teams competing in over 30 combined contests across seven different states during spring break.

The No. 48 IUP women's tennis team continues its trip to Florida for spring break with four matches this week. Two of those matches are against ranked opponents in Texas A&M Kingsville and Tampa, while Saturday's dual match is against the reigning NJCAA national champions in Hillsborough CC.
 
The Crimson Hawks fell in a 4-0 decision to No. 23 Embry-Riddle on Sunday, March 10. IUP was beginning to settle in in singles play before the Eagles clinched the victory. 
Katy Graydon and 
Lydia Vlachou continued their success at No. 2 doubles, picking up a 6-4 win. It marks the 10th win of the season for the duo, moving to 7-3 overall in their last 10 matches as a pairing.

The IUP softball program continues a loaded slate in Florida for The Spring Games this week. The Hawks are set for six total matchups the remainder of the week, beginning with a pair of contests on March 12 against Bentley and Lewis.
 
IUP is 2-2 on its spring break trip so far, posting victories against St. Michael's in 11 innings and New Haven. 
Paige Truax finished with five hits, one RBI and a run scored in the marathon victory against St. Michael's. 
Elizabeth Kasper fired nine strikeouts in a complete game win against New Haven on Sunday.
 
Truax is seven hits shy of 100 for her IUP career, reaching base safely in four straight games.

Taking control early, IUP preserved through the rain for a 16-9 road victory at Millersville last weekend. The Crimson Hawks turn their attention to Shepherd on March 12 before heading to Maryland for a neutral site matchup with No. 15 New Haven. 
Chantal Jimenez reached 100 career points in the victory, while 
Sarah Reustle finished with six goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls.
 
Jiminez moved into a tie for third on the IUP all-time draw control list with six wins against the Marauders. Reustle is inching closer to 100 career points, entering Tuesday's nonconference game with Shepherd five points shy of the scoring milestone.
 
Kathryn Burke leads NCAA DII with 5.0 assists/game through just two outings this season as the well-rounded Crimson Hawks get into a consistent playing schedule.

IUP has four student-athletes set to compete in the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships this week at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The championships run March 12-16.

After several schedule alterations, the IUP baseball team hits the road for five games in five days. The Crimson Hawks begin the road swing at Bloomsburg on March 13 before visiting Chestnut Hill the following day. From there, the Hawks finish out the weekend with a three-game series at Wilmington (Del.) from March 15-17.
 
Mark Edeburn was named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week for the Crimson Hawks during their last action. Edeburn whirled a complete game, guiding the team to a 3-1 victory against West Virginia State on March 2. It was the 13th complete game of Edeburn's career, surrendering just two hits and one earned run.
 
Harrison Pontoli (Career: .319 AVG, 33 2B, 104 RBI) and 
Ricardo Aponte have four RBI each, leading IUP offensively early in the season.
 
M/W TRACK & FIELD 
March 14-16
at 49er Classic – Host: Charlotte
 
Beginning the outdoor portion of the schedule, the IUP track & field teams head to North Carolina for the three-day 49er Classic on March 14-16. The Crimson Hawks compete nearly every week leading up to the PSAC Outdoor Championships on May 2-4 at Shippensburg.
 
This week's action marks the first for the Crimson Hawks since concluding the indoor campaign on February 19. IUP had three all-conference evets during the indoor season, coming in the 400m (
Kendall Branan), 4x400 relay (
Trenton Jubin, 
Owen Putt, 
Justin Egizio, Branan) and the men's triple jump (
SahBri Hill). Junior 
Sarah Isenberg represented the Crimson Hawks on the 2024 All-Atlantic Region team in the high jump, finishing fourth in the region with her mark of 1.65m during the indoor slate.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (21-7)

The IUP women's basketball program earned an at-large bid into the 2024 NCAA DII Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the Atlantic Region. The Crimson Hawks earned their 16th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and open play against No. 3 seed Fayetteville State, the champions of the CIAA, on Friday, March 15 at Fairmont State.
 
IUP was well represented in the all-conference awards released last week as three players earned recognition. 
Rahmena Henderson (15.5 PPG, 76 Stl) was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year and All-PSAC West First Team, while 
Nyshae' Weaver (11.3 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 58.5 FG%) and 
Maria Cerro (10.8 PPG, 3.0 APG) picked up second team laurels.
