CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The IUP track & field team returned from its hiatus, opening the outdoor portion of the schedule this weekend at the 49er Classic, hosted by Charlotte.
The three-day event began Thursday with the heptathlon, while the remainder of the meet spanned Friday and Saturday.

Kaylla Williams, who finished sixth in the javelin (40.6m) with a PSAC standard in her collegiate debut in the event.
Mike Formica carried over his success from the indoor season to North Carolina for the start of the outdoor campaign, registering fourth in the 5,000m with a PSAC mark of 14:56.93.
Teammate
Marco Cardone posted 11th in the race with a PSAC mark of his own in 15:16.19. Elsewhere in the distance events for the IUP men,
