LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP baseball junior
Jake Black was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Co-Pitcher of the Week following a complete game effort on the mound last weekend.
Black earns his first weekly award from the PSAC as a junior transfer from Northampton CC. The Bethlehem, Pa. native recorded a complete game shutout against Seton Hill, carving through the Griffin lineup in 98 pitches.
Black notched his first complete game with the Crimson Hawks, allowing just four hits on the day with four strikeouts and two walks. Black was perfect through three innings and allowed just one baserunner through the opening four innings of the day.
He won a pitcher's duel as IUP eventually broke through offensively in the sixth inning for a 3-0 victory against the Griffins.
Black is 4-2 on the season over eight appearances, posting his second start of seven innings in as many appearances.
IUP returns to action with a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16 against Davis & Elkins.
