LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP infielder
Harrison Pontoli was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Pontoli collected eight hits in six games last week for the Crimson Hawks, adding a home run and four RBI. The Beaver, Pa. native secured a series win for the Crimson Hawks on Sunday with his walk-off single against California (Pa.).
IUP went on to sweep a pivotal four-game series against the Vulcans, jumping into a tie for first in the PSAC West standings at 25-10 and 14-6 in the league. Pontoli is the seventh toughest batter to strike out in the PSAC this season, hitting .292 with five home runs and 30 RBI.
Pontoli has 194 career hits and 16 home runs, adding a homer against the Vulcans on April 20 at Wild Things Park.
IUP visits Wheeling for a nonconference game on Tuesday, April 23.
