Crimson Hawks dominate Frostburg State in dual meet victory

FROSTBURG, Md. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania swimming teams turned in a dominant, well-rounded performance Saturday, winning the majority of events in a dual meet against Frostburg State.

IUP set the tone early by sweeping both 200-meter medley relays. The women's "A" relay of Kasha Stokes, Catrina Miller, Gem Crittenden and Kaleese Jallow won in 2:03.33, while the men's team of Alexander Roth, Brody Davies, Riley Yute and Stephen Goff touched first in 1:50.04.

Distance races highlighted the Crimson Hawks' depth. Benedetta Bellini won the women's 800 freestyle in 9:38.94, with teammates Julie Zaffiro and Lilly Farmer also placing among the top finishers. On the men's side, Ty Uhlig captured the 800 freestyle in 9:02.50 and added another victory in the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:22.85.

IUP controlled the sprint events as well. Kaleese Jallow claimed the women's 50 freestyle in 28.88, while Benjamin Adamonis led an IUP sweep of the top three spots in the men's 50 freestyle, winning in 24.17. Stephen Goff followed with a victory in the men's 100 freestyle, touching in 53.64.

The Crimson Hawks also excelled in the individual medley and stroke events. Gem Crittenden won the women's 100 IM in 1:08.70, and Roth claimed the men's title in 1:01.24. Catrina Miller added a win in the women's 50 breaststroke, while Brody Davies topped the field in the men's 50 breaststroke.

IUP closed the meet strong with victories in both 200 freestyle relays. The women's relay of Stokes, Summer Esson, Farmer and Bellini edged Frostburg State with a time of 1:54.83, and the men's team of Nick Vaow, Trent Powell, Uhlig and Adamonis won in 1:36.34.
