YORK, Pa -- The IUP men's and women's swimming teams had a promising start on the opening day of competition at the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conferece (PSAC) Swimming Championships on Monday.
Avital Flaishman placed eighth in the 1000m with a time of 10:39.18,
Kasha Stokes placed 13th (10:50.55), and Lillian Farmer wrapped up the scoring in 23rd (11:17.18).
Tyler Uhlig just missed honors with a fourth-place finish in the men's 1000m (9:35.94), shaving seven seconds off his prelim time.
Overall, IUP had four swimmers qualify for the 200 IM finals, paced by
Gem Crittenden (5th; 2:07.22),
Summer Esson (8th; 2:08.53),
Catrina Miller, and
Kyla Kramer placed 15th and 23rd, respectively.
Alexander Roth placed eighth in the men's 200 IM (1:52.77) and
Stephen Goff placed 10th in the 50 free with a time of 21.18.
In the women's 50 free,
Tina Cudina grabbed 12th (24.23), and
Katie Crosscut placed 15th (24.31).
The women's 800 free relay team, consisting of Esson, Flaishman, McCombs, and Farmer, secured eighth place with a time of 7:51.22. Meanwhile, the men's 800 free relay team, featuring Mikesell, Vaow, Goff, and Uhlig, claimed fourth place with a time of 6:51.54.
Through the first day of competition, the women's team is ranked fourth with 170 points and the men's team is ranked fifth with 63 points.

IUP is back in the pool for Day Two of the 2025 PSAC Championships, participating in session three (prelims; 10:00 a.m.) and session four (finals; 6:00 p.m.) on Tuesday, February 18.
