STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The IUP indoor track and field program traveled as a full team to Penn State University for their final regular season meet before PSAC Championships take place, on Friday.
Bryna Kelly achieved a career best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.97, placing her second in both IUP all-time history and in the PSAC standings. She placed sixth in the finals.
Renee Simmonds also competed in the 60m hurdles. She delivered back-to-back career bests with a 9.54 time in the opener and then shaved it to 9.38 in the finals.
The women's sprint group continued to shine, led by Sterlene Scott and Cahsia Page, both of whom secured automatic qualifying marks in the 60m dash. The relay placed third with a time of 4;03.88 and also contributing was Brozeski and Kirsch. Scott capped off her performance with a lifetime best of 7.70 seconds in the 60m, placing her third in the PSAC and third all-time in IUP history. Page placed eighth in the women's 200m (25.66).
Nataiah Robertson placed second in the long jump (5.54m), to earn a PSAC standard. She also marked a career best in the triple jump with a leap of 10.86m, which pushed her to 18th in the PSAC standings.
Matthew Cusatis recorded a PSAC qualifying mark of 13.71m in the triple jump.
Additionally, Quintin Robinson competed in the pole vault, successfully clearing a bar at 4.15m. His performance moved him to 17th in the PSAC rankings.
In the distance events, junior Julia O'Brien added another automatic qualifying mark to her resume with a lifetime-best time of 10:36.89 in the 3000m. She will join Dan Gibney and Mike Formica in competing in the distance double at the PSAC Championships. Meanwhile, sophomore Gabe Pacyna faced a highly competitive field in the 800m, rising to the challenge by clocking a PSAC auto-qualifying time of 1:56.83.
Mike Formica placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:55.07. Nathan Kociela placed second in the 3000m with a time of 8:56.25.
