INDIANA, Pa. – IUP junior forward
Nyshae' Weaver was named to the 2024-25 Division II Conference Commissioners Associations (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Second Team, announced Thursday.
The announcement came as IUP was preparing for the 2025 NCAA DII Atlantic Region matchup against No. 5 seed Fairmont State at Edinboro.
Fairmont State's Leslie Huffman has been selected as the 2025 Atlantic Region Player of the Year. Joining Huffman on the 2024-25 All-Atlantic Region First Team are Emily Chmiel (East Stroudsburg), Nya Morris (Claflin), Naia Pulliam (Kutztown), and Emilee Weakley (Frostburg State). These five women are now eligible for All-America recognition.
The second team consists of six players due to a tie in voting. These players include Morgan Gentile (Edinboro), Mia Kalich (Seton Hill), Michelle Kozicki (West Chester), Destiny Ryles (Bowie State), Abbie Smith (Concord) and
Nyshae' Weaver (IUP).
The 2024-25 D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Women's Basketball Team includes six seniors or graduate students, four juniors, and one sophomore. The team features six players from the PSAC. three players from the Mountain East Conference (MEC), and two players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Weaver adds another accolade onto her already prestigious collegiate career with the Crimson Hawks. As a sophomore, Weaver was named as All-PSAC West Second Team selection, and was selected onto the All-PSAC West First Team her junior season.
This year she averaged 14.9 PPG, 11.1 RPG, playing 30.4 MPG. Her highest scoring game of the year was a 26 points and 16 rebounds lights out performance against Shepherd on an impressive 12-13 shooting split. Weaver was named PSAC West Athlete of the Week twice and earned Defensive Athlete of the week honors two times this season. She has posted 15 double-doubles in the 2024-25 season and looks to continue her dominant season into the regional tournament.
